Ruling YSR Congress MP and party leader in Parliament, V Vijayasai Reddy, expressed confidence that the party would secure over 160 Assembly seats in the upcoming general elections.
He mentioned that whether TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu is in jail or out on bail, there would be no change in the political situation in the state.
Vijayasai stated that Naidu had made similar claims before the 2019 general election, alleging that the BJP government at the Centre planned to arrest him and urged people to support him. However, people did not take him seriously and he was given only 23 Assembly seats in the election, Vijayasai Reddy noted.
He pointed out that now Naidu has been arrested, and people in the state are not willing to support him. There is complete silence in the state, with people considering him corrupt and justifying his judicial remand, he added.
The ruling YSR Congress has performed well in the last four years, even during the Covid-19 pandemic, Vijayasai mentioned. People in the state have been benefiting from the welfare initiatives of the government during this period.
Expressing full satisfaction with the implementation of welfare programs over the last four years, people are now supporting the YSR Congress, he said.
He claimed that the party is poised to win more than 160 seats in the upcoming election, and the TDP would be reduced to a minimum level in the Assembly.
According to Vijayasai Reddy, the TDP would not even attain the status of the opposition party in the Assembly.
