Sabita still undecided on quitting Cong

Former home minister and Congress MLA from Maheshwaram assembly constituency Sabita Indra Reddy appears to be in two minds over continuing in the Congress party.

After failing to convince Sabita to stay back in the party, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy sought the help of working president A Revanth Reddy to resolve the crisis.

Revanth had a long meeting with Sabita and explained to her the problems she would be facing in the TRS.

At the same, he advised her to talk to the party high command once before taking any decision.

Following his call to the high command, AICC president Rahul Gandhi spoke to her and asked her and her son Karthik Reddy to come to Delhi for further talks.

“Yes, I got a call from the high command. But I have not yet decided whether to go or not. There has been a lot of injustice done to me and my son in the party. He was assured of Chevella MP ticket, but now it is being given to Konda Vishweshwar Reddy. And when he is making comments against me and my family, the PCC leaders are not uttering a word, which has hurt me,” she said.

Stating that her family was being deliberately suppressed in the party, Sabita said she was hesitating to quit the Congress only because it will damage the party prospects in Ranga Reddy district.

It may be mentioned that Sabita, along with Karthik Reddy met TRS working president K T Rama Rao in the presence of MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi at a private place on Friday, and she was promised a berth in the cabinet of chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

It remains to be seen whether she will get any assurance from Rahul on the Chevella ticket to Karthik Reddy or not. If she does not get any concrete assurance, she will meet KCR in a day or two and quit the Congress.
