Rs 25 lakh public money for Lotus Pond!

Rs 25 lakh public money for Lotus Pond!

Telugu Desam Party leaders have got yet another opportunity to corner YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, who has been targeting them and their leader N Chandrababu Naidu ever since he came to power two months ago.

On Monday, the Jagan government issued a Government Order (GO No. 160) of Roads and Buildings department, releasing Rs 24.50 lakh for making security arrangements for Jagan’s personal residence at Lotus Pond in Banjara Hills in Hyderabad.

According to the GO, an amount of Rs 12.50 lakh has been released for construction of scanner-cum-baggage checking room, CCTV room, static room and police officers’ room.

Similarly, another Rs 12 lakh has been released for construction of toilets, police barracks and other miscellaneous civil works.

The TDP leaders are now questioning why the YSRC government should spend so much public money on Jagan’s private residence at Hyderabad, though he has his own residence at Tadepalli on which the government had already spent huge money in the name of security arrangements.

“Jagan hardly comes to Hyderabad and does it requires spending so much money on toilets and barracks? Anywhere, there has been security at his residence for the last five years,” a TDP leader pointed out.

But, the YSRC leaders are defending the same saying the amount was insignificant and it was not being spent on Jagan’s Lotus Pond residence as such, but on security staff which has been stepped up after he became the chief minister.

They recall how many crores of rupees had TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu had spent on his Jubilee Hills residence, even after he shifted the administration to Amaravati.
