Deputy Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly K Raghu Ramakrishnam Raju, known for his sharp criticism of YSR Congress Party president and former chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, has once again targeted him and his party.
Ahead of the Assembly session scheduled to begin on September 18, Raju lashed out at the YSRCP’s demand for recognition as the official opposition.
He ridiculed Jagan, saying the former CM was “behaving like a child crying for the moon.”
The Deputy Speaker warned that if Jagan continued to stay away from Assembly proceedings, he would automatically face disqualification.
“If he skips the upcoming session, a by-election in Pulivendula, Jagan’s home constituency, could become inevitable,” he cautioned.
Raju further remarked that if YSRCP MLAs also boycott the session, the 11 seats won by the party could go to by-elections.
“As an elder and as Deputy Speaker, I appeal to Jagan to attend the Assembly,” he added.
He also recalled that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had directly challenged Jagan to come to the House and suggested that the former CM should accept the challenge.
TDP leaders, meanwhile, have reiterated that opposition status will not be granted to the YSRCP, as it was already “rejected by the people.”
Political speculation is growing that if Jagan once again boycotts the Assembly, he could face disqualification.
This political tussle comes on the heels of the TDP’s recent victory in the ZPTC elections in Pulivendula, further raising the stakes ahead of the session.
