A true leader must stand with the people, in their happiness, in their sorrow and especially in times of crisis and even when everything is ok. Being visible and accessible creates trust and reassures citizens that their leader is by their side.
In Telangana, former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao followed a different style, keeping away from public life and spending most of his time in his farmhouse.
In Andhra Pradesh, the former Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy also adopted a similar approach, remaining confined to his Tadepalli residence and coming out mainly during elections. This style distanced him from people during their tenure.
In contrast, current Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu present a different picture. They often move among the public even while in power.
Revanth Reddy, for instance, surprised many by casually visiting Tank Bund during Ganesh immersion, winning praise for his grounded approach.
Whether this translates into electoral advantage is uncertain. Yet, such visible, people-centric leadership certainly carries weight and strengthens their connect with the masses.
