Raghurama Raju Seeks All Party Support

Rebel YSR Congress party MP from Narasapuram Kanumuri Raghurama Krishnam Raju, who has been staying put in New Delhi ever since he was discharged from Army Hospital last week, has made the “sedition” case filed against him by the Andhra Pradesh CID police a national issue.

Apart from meeting all top leaders of the Centre, Raghurama Raju on Thursday wrote letters to all the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members in the country, seeking their support to him in the forthcoming parliament session.

In the letter, Raju explained the reasons for his arrest and the developments thereafter. He pointed out that for the first time in the country, the police had used third degree methods in torturing an MP. He requested them to raise the issue in Parliament and come to his rescue.

Though Raju refused to comment on the letter he had written to all the MPs, some of them commented that the arrest and torture of Raju should be condemned by everybody, cutting across political affiliation.

On Wednesday night, Raju met Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla for half an hour and explained the details of the case filed against him.

He told the Speaker that the Jagan government launched a witch-hunt only because he filed a petition in the CBI court seeking cancellation of Jagan’s bail.
