Project cost Rs 540 cr, consultancy fee Rs 540 cr

Strange are the ways how the previous TDP government worked in the new Amaravati capital.

A five-member expert committee, which had been working on studying the previous government’s initiatives in Amaravati, found shocking revelations.

The seed access road in the capital was planned at a cost of Rs 540 crore. The previous TDP government had completed a little over 50 per cent of the work. The road is completed from Venkatapalem to Velagapudi.

It neither connects to the Guntur-Amaravati road nor the Chennai-Kolkata highway.

It required to be connected to the national highway passing through Penumaka, Undavalli and Tadepalli to connect it to the Chennai-Kolkata highway at Kanakadurga Varadhi, covering at least five to six kilometers.

On the other end, it has to cover another five to six kilometres from Velagapudi to be connected to the Guntur-Amaravati (old village) road at Tadikonda.

The issue now is that the TDP government had paid Rs 540 crore towards consultancy charges for preparing the road plan and the design.

The committee is now giving final touches to the report which is likely to be submitted to chief minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, sometime this week or next week.
