Pawan is JSLP leader, what about BJP?

As expected, Jana Sena Party president and Pithapuram MLA Pawan Kalyan was elected leader of Jana Sena Legislature Party (JSLP) in the Andhra Pradesh state assembly, though he is also part of the NDA government headed by Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu.

The Jana Sena Party MLAs met at the party office at Mangalagiri in the morning on Tuesday and elected Pawan Kalyan as their leader.

His name was proposed by party political affairs committee chairman and Tenali MLA Nadendla Manohar, which was unanimously accepted by all the 21 MLAs.

At the same time, Bharatiya Janata Party state president Daggubati Purandeshwari, who won the Lok Sabha elections from Rajahmundry, held a meeting with the newly-elected MLAs of her party at the party office in Vijayawada. The BJP won eight out of 10 seats it contested.

Purandeshwari held discussions with the MLAs on the choice of the BJP legislature party (BJLP) leader, but they could not come to a consensus. The meeting decided to leave it to the party national leadership to choose the BJLP leader.

In Telangana, too, the BJP had won eight seats, but it took more than two months for the party to decide its legislature party leader in the assembly. Finally, the BJP chose Alleti Maheshwar Reddy as the BJLP leader.
