Officials Face Music for Helping Sai Reddy's Daughter

The Andhra Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, has initiated action against officials who allegedly helped Neha Reddy, daughter of former YSR Congress Party MP V Vijay Sai Reddy, in constructing a permanent concrete wall without permission in the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ-1) area of Bheemili beach in Visakhapatnam.

According to officials, the construction was carried out under the name of Avyan Realtors, which is reportedly linked to Neha Reddy.

The project allegedly involved laying foundations and building a protective wall in the restricted coastal zone.

The issue had earlier reached the courts after Jana Sena Party leader Peethala Murthy Yadav filed a petition in the High Court challenging the construction.

After hearing the case, the court directed that the illegal structures be demolished at the expense of those who built them.

Following the court’s directions, the state government has now sought explanations from the officials responsible for monitoring the area.

Notices were issued on Friday asking them to explain why action was not taken when the unauthorised construction was taking place.

The notices were served to the then Bheemili Zonal Commissioner Kanaka Mahalakshmi, Assistant City Planners Shailaja Valli and D Srinivasa Rao, and Ward Revenue Secretary Shailaja Kumari.

The government has asked the officials to submit written explanations detailing why enforcement measures were not initiated despite the alleged violations in the ecologically sensitive coastal zone.
