Heritage Foods Executive Director Nara Brahmani, wife of Telugu Desam Party general secretary and Andhra Pradesh IT minister Nara Lokesh, has firmly dismissed speculation about her entry into politics, stating clearly that she has no interest in public life.
Speaking at the Business Today – Most Powerful Women in Business awards ceremony in Mumbai a few days ago, Brahmani said politics does not appeal to her, especially when she is already working in a space where her impact is direct and far-reaching.
Describing Heritage Foods as “my organisation, my first child,” she said the platform it provides is far more meaningful to her than any political role.
A Stanford MBA graduate, Brahmani noted that the company allows her to positively influence the lives of lakhs of women farmers and crores of consumers across India—an opportunity she has no intention of giving up.
She added that her professional focus closely aligns with her personal passion for health and nutrition.
With operations spread across 19 states and milk procurement from seven to eight states, Heritage Foods places farmer empowerment at the heart of its mission.
Women make up nearly 80 per cent of its producer base, a point Brahmani highlighted as central to her leadership vision.
The company recorded a turnover of ₹4,134.6 crore in the 2024–25 financial year. Reflecting on her journey, Brahmani recalled joining the dairy enterprise founded over three decades ago by her father-in-law, N Chandrababu Naidu, to support farmers in the Chittoor region.
As Heritage evolved into a listed company with thin margins and a complex supply chain, she identified the need for sharper strategic focus. This included a shift towards value-added products, which now contribute 32 per cent of revenues, with plans to steadily increase their share each year.
Brahmani credited the inclusive culture fostered by her mother-in-law, Nara Bhuvaneswari, for easing her transition into the business, and described Chandrababu Naidu as her most influential mentor. Family council meetings, she said, function with the discipline of a professional board.
Despite her family’s deep roots in politics, Brahmani reiterated that her attention remains firmly on business.
