No CBI probe into Kodela's death!

No CBI probe into Kodela's death!

The demand for a CBI inquiry into the circumstances that led to the suicide of former Andhra Pradesh state assembly speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao has failed generate any response from the YSR Congress party government led by chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy so far.

On Tuesday, even the Telangana high court refused to entertain a petition seeking the CBI probe into the death of Kodela. Similar petitions were filed in Andhra Pradesh high court, too.

In Telangana, the petition was filed by one Buragadda Anil Kumar, who alleged that it was Kodela’s son Shivaram, who was responsible for the suicide. He even included Banjara Hills police as respondents in the petition.

However, the court rejected the petition saying Anil Kumar was no way concerned with the suicide of Kodela and there was no public interest litigation involved in it. So, the petitioner has no locus standi.

The Banjara Hills police, however, told the high court that the investigation into the suicide of Kodela was going on and the statements of family members were recorded.

Summons were issued to Shivaram to appear before the police station to record his statement, but he expressed his inability to come at this stage as he was busy with the rituals associated with death.

The police are also yet to seize the mobile phone of Kodela to find out the calls made by him before his death.
