NMC Drops Sujana Chowdary's Medical College!

On Tuesday, a significant development captured attention in the Telugu states as the National Medical Commission (NMC) derecognized a medical college owned by former Union minister and BJP leader Y.S. Chowdary, popularly known as Sujana Chowdary.

Sujana Chowdary leads a trust that operates the Mediciti Institute of Medical Sciences located in Ghanpur, Telangana. The medical college, which boasts a vast campus, was established in 2002.

Previously associated with the TDP, Sujana Chowdary was elected to the Rajya Sabha on a TDP ticket and served as a minister in the Modi cabinet from 2014 to 2018. After the 2019 general elections, he, along with C.M. Ramesh and T.G. Venkatesh, joined the BJP.

Sujana Chowdary shares a close association with TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu, and there have been discussions regarding his potential candidacy as a TDP representative from the Guntur Lok Sabha constituency in the upcoming elections. The current seat holder, Galla Jayadev, is currently less active in the party.

In response to the news, the Mediciti Institute of Medical Sciences issued a press release dismissing the rumors.

The institute clarified that it had applied for an increase in the number of seats for the 2023-24 academic year. However, the NMC conducted an inspection and identified certain shortcomings, leading to the rejection of the application.

The institute assured that it would address the identified deficiencies and reapply for reconsideration. They expressed confidence in obtaining approval for the additional courses once the compliance report is submitted.
