Naidu's Doublespeak About Police!

Naidu's Doublespeak About Police!

Till the other day, Telugu Desam Party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has been criticising the state police for allegedly foisting false cases against the TDP leaders across the state.

He went to the extent of alleging that the police had become puppets of the ruling YSR Congress party and accused Director General of Police Gautam Sawang of dancing to the tunes of chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

There have been instances of the police officers issuing statements to condemn Naidu’s statements and that of the other TDP leaders like Varla Ramaiah.

However, on Thursday, Naidu made an interesting statement on the capabilities of Andhra police. He said the police would work wonders in containing the sand mafia in the state, if they were given a free hand.

“The police can resolve the issue of sand crisis in the state within 24 hours, if they are given a free hand. Unfortunately, the Jagan government has tied up the hands of the police department and has been preventing it from doing its duty,” he lamented, while addressing the gathering at his Sand Deeksha in Vijayawada on Thursday.

He alleged that the sand mafia led by the ruling YSRC leaders created artificial scarcity of sand for their selfish motives and pushed the construction industry into unprecedented crisis.

Naidu demanded Rs 10,000 per month as an assistance to each of 30-lakh-odd families who lost their livelihood due to sand crisis and Rs 25 lakh compensation each of the families of those who died due to depression.
