Naidu to approach WB for Amaravati loan?

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who is determined to develop Amaravati as the world-class capital city of the state, is looking for financial sources to fulfil his objective.

According to sources, Naidu is considering the option of reviving the proposal to obtain loan from the World Bank, which he had initiated during his previous regime but was dumped by the Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy government soon after coming to power in 2019.

The chief minister is expected to take a call after discussing the matter in the state cabinet, taking into consideration all pros and cons. There is also a proposal to invite investments from the NRIs to take up key infrastructure projects in Amaravati.

Naidu is visiting the Amaravati capital region area on Thursday to examine the status of various buildings in different parts of the region. He will begin his tour starting from the place where Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation for the capital at Uddandarayunipalem village.

He will visit the Seed Axis Road, the housing complexes being built for the All India Service officers, the Ministers and the High Court Judges and later move to the sites where construction works were started during the last TDP regime for the iconic buildings, party sources said.
