Naidu still misusing power, alleges Jagan

Telugu Desam Party president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is on the way out, but he is still misusing the power to intimidate the opposition party leaders and benefit contractors by passing their bills indiscriminately.

This was the allegation made by YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy while speaking to media after submitting a memorandum to Governor E S L Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

Jagan alleged that the law and order situation in Andhra Pradesh had completely worsened in the last few days, Naidu was misusing the police forces to attack the rival party leaders.

“He has been forcing the police to foist false cases on YSRC workers, while sparing the TDP leaders and workers who indulged in large scale violence across the state,” he said.

He recalled that the police had not filed any case against assembly speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao who had stormed into the polling station, tore his own shirt and intimidated the voters at Inimetla village in Sattenapalli.

“Is it not a crime on the part of Kodela to gatecrash into the polling booth?” he asked.

Jagan further pointed out that the TDP ranks had assaulted Muslims and SCs, who had voted for YSR Congress party in Gurajala constituency.

“In Kurupam, the TDP leaders detained MLA Pushpa Sri Vani and attacked her physically. The police got her released but did not file any case o nteh accused,” he said.

He further alleged that the TDP leaders had assaulted Dalit MLA M S Babu in Putalapattu in Chittoor district and he was still in hospital with stitched wounds. Yet, no case was filed against the TDP leaders so far, he pointed out.

He said as many as 40 DSPs belonging to a particular community were given promotions unilaterally and they were filing cases against the YSRC workers.

“There was no police mechanism in the state,” he said.

Pointing out that in Machilipatnam, EVMs were shifted from strong rooms without the knowledge of the political parties, Jagan demanded deployment of para military forces at the strong rooms to prevent any kind of manipulation.
