In yet another setback to senior YSR Congress party leader and former MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, the Vijayawada ACB court on Monday dismissed his bail petition in the liquor scam that allegedly took place during the regime of Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy was arrested on June 18, along with his close associate Venkatesh Naidu at Bengaluru airport, when they were flying to Sri Lanka.
Chevireddy, a former MLA from Chandragiri, was named Accused No. 38 (A-38) in the case.
The SIT has so far named 39 accused in the case and arrested seven individuals including former IAS officer K Dhanunjay Reddy, former officer on special duty to Jagan Mohan Reddy P Krishna Mohan Reddy and former IT advisor to the government Kesireddy Rajasekhar Reddy.
The YSRCP leader was also grilled for three days by the Vijayawada police in the police custody granted by the Vijayawada ACB court.
While being taken to the court, he threatened the police officials of dire consequences, once the YSRCP comes back to power.
Meanwhile, non-bailable arrest warrants have been issued against several absconding accused in the liquor kickbacks case.
The SIT filed a petition seeking arrest warrants for 12 individuals who are currently absconding. After hearing the plea, the court granted permission to arrest them.
The accused in the case include Avinash Reddy, Purushottam, Anirudh Reddy, Sheikh Saif, Eeshwar Kiran Kumar Reddy, Bollaram Shiva, Rajeev Pratap, and several others.
