Jagan's Favourite Officer Relieved From GAD

Senior IAS officer and principal secretary in the Andhra Pradesh chief minister’s office Praveen Prakash, who is considered to be the favourite officer of chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, was on Tuesday relieved from the post of Principal Secretary (political) in the General Administration Department.

According to the orders issued by chief secretary Adityanath Das, another IAS officer Revu Muthyala Raju, a relatively junior officer, has been given full additional charge of the post of Principal Secretary (political) in the General Administration Department.

Raju, a 2007-batch IAS officer, is presently additional secretary to the chief minister.

The principal secretary (political) in the GAD is a very crucial post which deals with the transfers, postings and promotions of the IAS officers.

Hitherto, Praveen Prakash was holding the key in the GAD by taking the full additional charge, though he has been posted in the CMO as the principal secretary.

It is not exactly known why the chief minister took this sudden decision of relieving Praveen Prakash from the crucial GAD post, which the latter had been holding for the last two years.

Praveen Prakash, a 1994-batch IAS officer, has been virtually calling the shots in the CMO ever since he was brought back to AP by Jagan soon after he came to power in June 2019.

He had been serving as the principal secretary in CMO and is dictating terms to all the bureaucrats, even bypassing the orders of chief secretary.

Apparently, Jagan has been receiving a lot of complaints from the YSR Congress party MLAs and MPs against Praveen Prakash that he had been rejecting their requisitions for various works in their respective constituencies.

Several other IAS officers also reportedly complained to CM against Praveen Prakash.
