It has been nearly two weeks – 12 days to be precise – since there was a stone pelting at YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.
It took nearly five days for the police to arrest the accused and send him to judicial remand.
A look at the first pictures released by the party showed that Jagan had a cut on his forehead, but it was not bleeding profusely. It was more or less like a bruise. Yet, he went to the hospital an hour later, got a couple of stitches to the wound and a plaster applied on the wound.
So far so good. But even after 12 days, Jagan continues to move around with the plaster on his forehead, obviously to remind the people that he was attacked with a stone, so that they would not forget what had happened.
Nobody is questioning Jagan directly about the sporting the plaster for such a long time, but there has been a talk about it among the people.
Even for a major surgery, stitches would heal within three or four days and the plaster or bandage would be removed within a week.
Jagan’s cousin Dr Narreddy Sunitha, a senior physician in Apollo Hospitals, has given a piece of advice to Jagan.
“Please remove the bandage or plaster on the wound at least now. Because even if the wound is big, it would heal quickly, if it is exposed to air. As a doctor, I am advising you,” she said.
Sunitha, who has been attacking Jagan day in and day out for allegedly shielding the accused in her father Vivekananda Reddy’s murder, found fault with the chief minister for trying to malign the character of her father, by referring to his second wife.
“Everybody knows Vivekananda Reddy sacrificed his political career and MP seat for Jagan. Yet, he has developed so much contempt for my father. I was pained at the way Jagan sought to paint a bad image of my father,” she said.
