Jagan, Sharmila pay homage to YSR separately, mom joins both

Family members of legendary leader and former chief minister of combined Andhra Pradesh Y S Rajasekhar Reddy paid rich tributes to him on his 76th birth anniversary at Idupulapaya in YSR Kadapa district on Tuesday.

YSR’s wife Vijayamma joined her son Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and daughter Y S Sharmila separately to pay homage at YSR Samadhi at Idupulapaya; as both siblings are not getting along well with each other and do not see eye to eye.

First, Jagan had arrived in Idupulapaya from Tadepalli on Monday evening to participate in the birth anniversary events.

He reached Kadapa airport by a special flight from Gannavaram and then proceeded to Idupulapaya, where he stayed overnight.

This morning, he reached YSR Ghat, garlanded the statue, and offered prayers alongside Vijayamma and Bharathi.

They placed floral wreaths on the tomb and observed silence in his memory. Kadapa MP Y. S. Avinash Reddy, former Deputy CM Amjad Basha, Rajampet MLA Akeapati Amarnath Reddy, and former MLAs were present during the tribute.

After Jagan’s departure, his sister and Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief Y. S. Sharmila visited the Ghat and paid her respects to their father.

She recalled YSR’s lifelong commitment to the welfare of the people of undivided Andhra Pradesh.

She described him as a visionary who worked for the upliftment of underprivileged communities. She said YSR would always be remembered for his unwavering dedication and selfless service.

Later, Sharmila and Vijayamma together cut a cake to mark YSR’s birth anniversary, after Jagan left the place.
