Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Y S Sharmila on Thursday launched a blistering attack on her brother and former chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, saying he was feeling insecure with the reports of her son Y S Raja Reddy’s entry into politics.
Addressing a press conference, Sharmila strongly countered rumours over her son’s political entry.
“My son hasn’t even stepped into politics. If YSRCP is reacting so nervously even before that, is it fear or insecurity? They alone know,” she remarked.
Reacting sharply to YSRCP’s campaign against her son on social media questioning his legacy of her father and former chief minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, Sharmila said her son was named as Y S Raja Reddy by YSR himself and no mudslinging campaign could change his identity.
“No matter how loudly YSRCP’s gang shouts, my son is Y S Raja Reddy, the heir of Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. No number of barking dogs can change this,” she asserted.
On YSRCP’s stand in the Vice-Presidential elections, Sharmila questioned Jagan’s decision to back the RSS-supported candidate.
“Why didn’t Jagan support Justice Sudarshan Reddy, a legal expert and a man well-versed in the Constitution? Instead, he shamelessly supported the RSS nominee. This is a disgrace. If YSR were alive, he would have hung his head in shame,” she said.
She accused Jagan of being “Modi’s foster son” and following the BJP’s dictates.
“The same Jagan who once alleged Reliance was behind YSR’s death has now given them a Rajya Sabha seat. He handed over Gangavaram Port to Adani for Modi’s sake. For five years, YSRCP supported every BJP bill in Parliament. With what face did Jagan give this support?” she asked.
Sharmila said the TDP and Jana Sena have an open alliance, but Jagan has a secret alliance.
“YSRCP is working as BJP’s tail party. If you have courage, admit it openly. If not, tattoo BJP on your hand,” she taunted.
Sharmila also targeted Jagan’s ideological stance, asking: “As YSR’s son, do you have any of your father’s ideology left? Or have you filled yourself with RSS ideology? Has Modi become your god?”
She said YSR had consistently opposed the BJP and warned that history would not forgive Jagan for siding with the saffron party.
“History will remember Jagan as the one who stabbed YSR in the chest,” she declared.
Accusing YSRCP of lacking vision, she said: “This party has no agenda, no flag, no ideology. Jagan is indulging in political prostitution, trading loyalty for survival.”
