Jagan came to power, thanks to BJP votes?

YSR Congress party headed by Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy had managed to come to power in Andhra Pradesh in the recent assembly elections only because of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

This was the opinion expressed by BJP national secretary in-charge of Andhra Pradesh Sunil Deodhar at a party meeting held at Tenali in Guntur district on Monday.

He said in 2014 assembly elections, the BJP had an alliance with the Telugu Desam Party and helped it win the elections. A vast percentage of BJP votes got transferred to the TDP.

“But TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu had betrayed the BJP and changed colours like a chameleon. He made a lot of false propaganda against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the elections. As a result, the pro-BJP vote turned in favour of YSR Congress party,” Deodhar said.

According to the BJP leader, more than 20 percent of votes of Bharatiya Janata Party got transferred to the YSRC in the recent elections.

The YSRC got more than 49 percent vote share in the assembly elections. Going by Deodhar, the YSRC got 20 per cent BJP votes; which means, it would have got only 29 percent votes, if the BJP votes had not been transferred to it.

It would mean, but for the BJP, Jagan came to power; otherwise, the TDP would have retained power again!

Any takers for this argument?
