Jagan: Avinash innocent, TDP behind Viveka murder!

YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday gave clean chit to his cousin and Kadapa MP Y S Avinash Reddy in the alleged murder of his uncle and former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy in March 2019.

Speaking in the state assembly after leader of opposition N Chandrababu Naidu walked out of the House saying he would not attend the rest of the present term of the assembly, Jagan even suspected that the TDP could be behind the murder of Vivekananda Reddy.

“If at all there was anybody behind the murder, it could be the TDP. Now, they are giving it a twist and making wild allegations,” the chief minister said.

Jagan’s statement comes in the wake of the Central Bureau of Investigation arresting YSRC general secretary and his close aide in Pulivendula Devidreddy Shiv Shankar Reddy and the reports that the CBI might arrest Avinash sooner than later, following a confession statement from Viveka’s driver Dastagiri.

The chief minister said Vivekha was his uncle and not that of Chandrababu Naidu.

“And Avinash Reddy is the son of another uncle. Who will resort to killing of one’s own uncle? Why would anybody pierce one’s own eye?” he asked.

He said Viveka’s murder took place when Naidu was the chief minister and YSRC was in opposition.

“The TDP resorted to all sorts of irregularities to defeat my uncle in the MLC elections. The YSRC had more number of MPTCs and ZPTCs in Kadapa district those days. When we fielded our uncle in the MLC elections, the TDP lured our MPTCs and ZPTCS and grabbed the seat using police forces,” he alleged.

Jagan alleged that the TDP leaders themselves might have been behind the murder of Viveka.

“But they are trying to twist the tale and making allegations against us,” he said.

He reminded that the TDP leaders had sought to create differences within his own family.

“But god is there and he will take care of everybody’s fate,” Jagan asserted.
