Galla family to quit politics, focus on business

Senior Telugu Desam Party leader and two-time MP from Guntur Galla Jayadev has decided to quit not just the party, but entire political career.

He is likely to announce his decision by calling for meeting of all his followers and well-wishers and even TDP leaders of Guntur in a couple of days. His family members would also take part in the meeting.

Before that, Galla and his family members would meet TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu and his son Nara Lokesh and thank him for giving an opportunity for the last two terms to serve the party as an MP.

Galla has already indicated to the TDP president that he won’t be contesting the Lok Sabha elections this time. But he did not declare that he was quitting politics. Now, he will make it official.

His mother, Galla Aruna Kumari, a former minister who played active role in the Congress and later in the TDP, has already relinquished politics.

The family is feeling suffocated with the politics of Andhra, as it is affecting their business interests, which are the family’s primary concern.

Jayadev already scaled down the operations of his family concern Amara Raja Group in Chittoor district and took the expansion plans in Telangana and Tamil Nadu. The family is likely to shift to Hyderabad for future operations, sources said.
