Telugu Desam Party general secretary and Andhra Pradesh information technology minister Nara Lokesh has been elected to the state assembly for the first time from Mangalagiri assembly constituency in 2024, though he had been a minister in the past by virtue of being a member of state legislative council (MLC) earlier.
Yet, he thinks he has become a senior MLA and is teaching lessons to the newly-elected MLAs of the party on the governance and taking up the people’s issues with the government.
It has become a practice for Lokesh, who has now become a de facto chief minister, to hold an informal meeting with his cabinet colleagues at his camp office before the commencement of every cabinet meeting.
On Monday, too, Lokesh had a review meeting with several ministers at Undavalli.
He said several first-time MLAs were yet to understand the nuances of administrative functioning and public service; and advised that they should learn from the experienced MLAs and improve coordination in governance.
“A few first-time legislators seem unaware of the right administrative balance. Senior MLAs and leaders must mentor them to overcome inexperience and lack of awareness,” Lokesh reportedly said.
He advised the new MLAs to learn from the challenges and struggles their seniors faced in their political journeys.
“Understanding the path that led senior leaders to success will help the new MLAs correct their shortcomings and continue their winning streaks,” he added.
Lokesh instructed all ministers to act responsibly regarding contracts and projects in their respective departments.
He directed them to participate mandatorily in the MSME Parks event scheduled for Tuesday, stressing the importance of industrial expansion in every district.
The minister emphasized that district in-charge ministers should take the lead in ensuring new units are grounded under the MSME initiative.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to employment generation, Lokesh said the administration was determined to fulfil its promise of creating 20 lakh jobs at the earliest.
