Finally, Amar Speaks For Jagan Govt

Finally, Amar Speaks For Jagan Govt

Senior journalist and AP government advisor for national media, Devulapalli Amar, appeared before the media on Friday, after a long gap of two years.

The media in AP is not happy with the Jagan Mohan Reddy government for two reasons.

The first reason is the political interest for a section of the media, which has been carrying reports and special stories against the government from the day one.

The second reason is the government’s indifferent attitude towards journalists and the media houses.

The government fails to recognise the presence of journalists and media houses other than the Sakshi group that backs the government and the Eenadu, Andhra Jyothi and TV5 group that haunts the government.

For all practical purposes, AP government recognises only these media houses and the journalists working in them.

This attitude of the government makes several journalists feel ignored and neglected, which ultimately reflects negatively on the government.

It was two days ago that the Indian Journalists Union had held a meeting in Vijayawada and found fault with the government for its indifferent attitude towards journalists.

Amar flew down to Vijayawada in 48 hours to counter the criticism and justify the Jagan Mohan Reddy government.

Though Amar, a long-standing journalist and trade union activist, had nothing much to claim for the government towards journalists, he revealed that the government had several plans for the welfare of the journalists.

He further said that the government was brewing some programmes for the journalists. However, he did not give any timeline for those welfare initiatives to see the light of the day.

While his hour-long press conference did not help journalists to turn soft towards the government, he had accomplished his task.

No one knows when will he appear again in Andhra Pradesh, particularly for the fellow journalists!
