Fact Check: AP is not distributing central funds!

For the last few days, there has been a war of words between YSR Congress party leaders and the opposition party leaders over the distribution of financial assistance to the poor people to meet their expenses during the Coronavirus crisis period.

The YSRC people have been distributing Rs 1,000 to each poor family in their respective areas. Of course, they are also seeking the support of the beneficiaries to the party during the ensuing local body elections.

This has become an eyesore for the opposition, including Telugu Desam Party, Jana Sena and Bharatiya Janata Party.

They even wrote letters to Governor Biswabhushan Harichandan saying the cash incentive was part of the central relief package announced for the poor during the Coronavirus period and that the YSRC leaders were claiming credid for the money and seeking votes. The BJP leaders also lodged a complaint with the Centre.

Jana Sena leader Nagababu, brother of party president Pawan Kalyan, also lashed out at the Jagan government for claiming the central funds as its own funds.

Targeting YSRC leader Ambati Rambabu for taking credit for money distribution, Nagababu alleged that YSRC government and its party leaders were trying to reap political benefits by distributing central funds and claiming them to be the state monies.

Ambati gave a sharp retort. He said whatever cash assistance the Centre was giving was being directly credit to the Jan Dhan accounts of the beneficiaries.

“What the Jagan government is giving an extra amount of Rs 1,000 from the state’s own funds. He announced the scheme much in advance and the money is being given directly to the beneficiaries,” he pointed out.

He accused Nagababu and even Sujana Chowdary of talking through their hats without applying any brains.
