Ex-minister takes to selfie to seek TDP ticket!

With assembly and general elections in Andhra Pradesh are just a year away, hectic lobbying has begun from the aspirants for the party tickets in both ruling YSR Congress party and also the Telugu Desam Party.

While some party leaders are confident of getting the tickets from the constituencies of their choice because of their track record, others are compelled to do a lot of lobbying to appease the party bosses.

Some other senior leaders are trying for party tickets not only for themselves, but also for their sons and daughters.

Take the case of former MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, who not only wants the TDP ticket from Narsaraopet parliamentary constituency, but also assembly tickets for his son and brother.

Apart from making rounds to the party headquarters, the aspirants are also bringing pressure on the leadership through the party workers at the ground level, apart from resorting to innovative campaigns to lobby for the ticket.

Senior TDP leader and former minister Jyothula Nehru from Kakinada district on Tuesday took to selfie mode to release a video, requesting party president N Chandrababu Naidu and party workers for an MLA ticket as well as an MP ticket.

Nehru appealed to the party for a ticket to contest from Pithapuram assembly seat.

He said he would be happy if the party gives him the ticket from Pithapuram, but at the same time, he said he would not mind even if it is given to others. He appealed to the party workers to strive for the victory of the TDP, whoever gets the ticket.

In the same breath, Jyothula Nehru requested the party high command to give the TDP ticket to his son Jyothula Naveen from Kakinada parliamentary constituency. Naveen is presently the TDP president of Kakinada district.

At present, Kakinada LS constituency is being represented by YSRC candidate Vanga Geetha. She is now contemplating contesting as an MLA this time. In that case, the TDP is of the view that it has a better chance of winning the seat. That is why Nehru wants the party ticket for his son Naveen.

The selfie request has attracted the attention of the TDP leadership. It remains to be seen whether Naidu will entertain his request.
