Ex-editor of AP magazine is Maha News CEO

Not-so-popular Telugu television channel Maha News, which has witnessed the exit of Parakala Prabhakar, politician-turned-political commentator, as its chief executive officer, has now got the new replacement.

Kandula Ramesh Chowdary, former editor of “Andhra Pradesh,” the erstwhile official magazine of the AP government during the Telugu Desam Party government, is learnt to have taken over as the CEO and Editor of Mahaa News last week.

Ramesh started off his career more than three decades ago in Eenadu and worked in various newspapers including Deccan Chronicle, also has hands-on experience in the electronic media as well, as he had earlier worked with TV5, Studio N and Express TV television channels for a quite long time.

Known for his pro-Telugu Desam Party leanings as he belongs to the same caste of party president N Chandrababu Naidu, Ramesh joined Andhra Pradesh magazine after TDP came to power in 2014.

However, he had to make an exit from the magazine after YSR Congress came to power in the most controversial circumstances, when Andhra Pradesh magazine was brought out with the picture of newly-elected chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy in black and white on the cover page and with disputed headline “Jagan Ane Athadu..” (He, Jagan), instead of “Jagan Ane Nenu” (I, Jagan), that angered the powers-that-be.

After remaining in a virtual oblivion and confined himself to freelancing for a few websites, Ramesh is now back in the mainstream media as the CEO of Mahaa News.

Hope he will use his expertise to revive the channel to its full glory!
