After waiting for nearly 18 months of the Telugu Desam Party-led coalition came to power in Andhra Pradesh, the state government employees have stepped up their attack on the Chandrababu Naidu government, seeking resolution of long-pending financial and service-related issues.
Leaders of the AP JAC Amaravati met State Finance Minister P Keshava on Monday in Vijayawada and presented a detailed representation outlining their concerns.
They reminded the government of the assurances earlier given by the chief minister and urged immediate action on unresolved matters.
One such demand of the employees specifically seeking transparency in the calculation and disclosure of employees’ pending dues, which they claim run into several thousand crores of rupees, has put the government in a tight spot.
The JAC demanded that the government make it mandatory for every employee’s pay slip to clearly display the exact amounts due to them under various heads.
These dues include Dearness Allowance (DA), Pay Revision Commission (PRC) arrears, surrender leave encashment, earned leave encashment, medical reimbursement claims, and retirement benefits.
The JAC leaders alleged that the finance department had not clearly disclosed these details, leading to widespread suspicion and uncertainty among employees.
They further requested development of a dedicated software system that auto-generates each employee’s pending dues and reflects them transparently in their salary slips, covering all categories including teachers and pensioners.
The JAC also urged the government to clear priority claims on an emergency basis—such as benefits payable to the families of deceased employees, retirement benefits of superannuated staff, emergency medical reimbursements, and essential claims like children’s marriage expenses.
They stressed that vulnerable groups such as bereaved families, retired staff, and critically ill employees should be given top priority.
In addition, issues relating to regular employees, teachers, pensioners, contract workers, outsourced personnel, and village/ward secretariat employees were discussed.
Kesav assured the delegation that the government would initiate appropriate action on the issues raised.
