Curfew extended in AP with more relaxations

The Jagan Mohan Reddy government on Friday announced extension of curfew in the state till June 30 to prevent the spread of Covid-19 but with more relaxations.

According to an official spokesman from the chief minister’s office, Jagan took the decision at a review meeting on Covid-19 held at his camp office.

The extension of curfew will come into force from Monday.

At present, the curfew in Andhra Pradesh has been in force from 2 pm to 6 am the following day.

The relaxation has been given from 6 am to 1 pm, with a grace period of one hour for the people to return to their homes.

With the latest decision, the relaxation in curfew will be extended till 5 pm with one hour grace period.

All the shops and establishments should be closed by 5 pm and people have to return home by 6 pm. The curfew will be strictly in force from 6 pm till 6 am the following day, the spokesman said.

In East Godavari district, however, the present relaxations would continue to be from 6 am to 2 pm, after which there would be lockdown in force strictly.

This is in view of the high positivity rate of Covid-19 in the district.

Since the curfew is being relaxed till 6 pm every day, the chief minister suggested that all the government offices function in their regular timings.

He asked the authorities to take steps to ensure that there would be 100 per cent attendance of employees in the government offices.
