Cops Dragged Into Ugly YSRC-TDP Slugfest!

An ugly slugfest between YSR Congress party and Telugu Desam Party over an alleged attack on a policeman by ruling party workers landed the police in the most embarrassing situation.

It all began with TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu sharing an image on Twitter claiming that YSRCP workers were seen attacking a policeman in Visakhapatnam recently.

He said it was shocking to see the YSRC taking the law into their hands and insulting the police.

“Even a policeman isn't safe in Andhra Pradesh anymore,” he tweeted.

While it was expected that the YSRC leaders would launch a counter-attack, the Andhra Pradesh police sought to react quickly and refute the allegations.

Sharing some more images, the police department said the YSRC cadre were actually helping an injured policeman and massaging his head, after he fell on the road.

“#FactCheck: Respected Leader of Opposition party. @ncbn Sir your post is NOT Correct. The allegations are FALSE again. The YSRCP cadre was only helping Officer and massaging his injury after a fall.”

“Sir request to pl refrain from such FALSEHOOD and spreading INCORRECT news. It will needlessly misguide the citizens and also demoralise policemen. Request you to kindly cooperate with the police to maintain law and order in the state. Grateful,” the official handle of the Andhra Pradesh police tweeted.

However, the TDP shot back at the police department for defending the YSRC leaders.

“Why didn’t the police release the complete video? It was an attack made by the ruling YCP goondas that the policeman suffered injuries in Visakhapatnam,” TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh said.

He termed it as unfortunate that some police officials were stooping to lower levels just for the sake of getting favours from the YSRC leaders.

He appealed to the police department not to mortgage its self-respect to Jagan government.

The TDP leaders termed it as objectionable on the part of the YCP leaders to say that the policeman fell on his own when the ruling party activists were taking out a rally at that time.
