Compare with TDP regime, vote for me, says Jagan

Even as the YSR Congress party leaders are categorically ruling out the possibility of holding early elections in Andhra Pradesh, party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has already started asking the people to vote for his party again to power in the next elections.

The chief minister, who has made it a point to address a public meeting every time he releases funds towards instalments of his welfare schemes, has been asking the people to compare his government with the previous Telugu Desam Party government and bless him with power once again.

On Monday, too, Jagan launched the next instalment of Jagananna Amma Vodi scheme at Srikakulam and used the occasion to launch a tirade on the opposition TDP led by N Chandrababu Naidu, his friendly media and his “adopted son” Pawan Kalyan.

“I am fighting not just with Chandrababu Naidu, but with the demons in the form of yellow media and his adopted son, who are conspiring against me and spreading canards against me. But even if all these evil forces come together, they cannot pluck my hair, as I have the people’s mandate and support,” Jagan said.

He said the opposition parties were trying to stall every scheme and were making false criticism on him whose objective was to do good for the people.

“All of you should think seriously as to whether every household in the state received benefits from the Jagan government or not. They use your wisdom and bless me again in the next elections,” he said.

He defended his government’s decision to impose certain restrictions on the implementation of Amma Vodi scheme.

He said the government has decided to implement mandatory attendance of 75 percent for students only to ensure that the funds are used judiciously. It will enable their mothers to derive the benefits of the Amma Vodi scheme, he said.

He reminded that the government had exempted the ‘minimum 75% attendance restriction’ in 2019-20 and 2021-22 due to the pandemic. As of now, the government has spent Rs 19,617.53 crores benefitting 44.50 lakh mothers and 82.31 lakh children under the scheme.

He also defended the decision to deposit money directly into mothers’ accounts, as it empowers mothers with the right to question the college management and demand accountability.
