CID refuses to share call data with Naidu!

The Crime Investigation Department of Andhra Pradesh police on Thursday refused to share the details of the call data of the investigating officers probing the skill development scam case filed against Telugu Desam Party president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

In a counter-affidavit filed in the ACB court, Vijayawada, to the petition filed by Naidu’s lawyers, the CID authorities said it was not possible to share the call data records of the officials at the time of arrest of Naidu at Nandyal on September 9.

The ACB court, which heard the arguments of Naidu’s counsel and that of the CID, which submitted its counter, deferred the further hearing to Friday.

Naidu’s lawyers argued that before his arrest, the CID authorities consulted several people from the government and the ruling YSR Congress party.

“If the data is given, it will reveal several important issues,” he said.

The CID authorities said the officials would consult various persons including witnesses during the investigation into the case.

“Disclosing the call data of the authorities would amount to infringement of secrecy and it would affect the investigation,” they said in the counter affidavit.

Meanwhile, the state high court will hear the bail petition filed by Naidu in the Skill Development Scam case on October 27. The matter was sent to the Division Bench on Monday.

Naidu had submitted the bail petition earlier this month on October 19. His lawyers wrote to the court seeking to grant him bail, stating his health condition.
