CBI Begins Probe Into Viveka Murder Case!

The Central Bureau of India (CBI) on Saturday commenced the investigation into the murder of former MP Y S Vivekananda Reddy, uncle of YSR Congress party president and CM Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, nearly one-and-a-half years of the incident.

The murder took place at Pulivendula on March 15, 2019 and it led to a serious slugfest between the YSRC and the then ruling Telugu Desam Party.

The CBI authorities, who took up the investigation following the high court orders, had a meeting with Kadapa superintendent of police K K Anburajan to gather the primary information on Saturday.

As many as seven CBI officials have swung into action to crack the case. They are expected to do a field investigation by going to Pulivendula.

The high court ordered the CBI probe into Viveka’s murder following a petition from his daughter Sunitha. The court expressed unhappiness over the lack of progress of investigation even a year after the murder.

Two different special investigation teams (SITs) have been formed to probe the case – one during the TDP regime and then later by Jagan government. But they have failed to make any headway. The high court felt that the murder could have inter-state ramifications; hence, it ordered the CBI probe.
