BJP Hails Jagan, TDP Praises KCR!

Political equations do not remain constant anywhere in the country. Friends can become foes and foes can turn friends.

Sometimes, leaders of one party praise or criticise another party to settle scores with their common enemies.

Take the case of Bharatiya Janata Party in Andhra Pradesh. Its primary job now is to finish off the Telugu Desam Party and occupy its position as a potential alternative to the ruling YSR Congress party.

In the process, it is not hesitating to praise the YSRC government headed by Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on some issues, only to deny political advantage to the TDP which any way doesn’t support the Jagan government’s decisions.

On Thursday, BJP state vice president P Vishnuvardhan Reddy hailed the decision taken by the Jagan cabinet banning online gambling like poker, rummy and other forms of betting games.

Obviously, he had to support this decision in the wake of the Narendra Modi government’s decision to ban similar online gaming apps like PUBG.

“I congratulate Jagan for taking this bold decision, as online gambling has been ruining families, especially children have become addicted to these games. It will bring a lot of benefit to the youth and children,” Reddy said.

On the other hand, the Telugu Desam Party leaders in Andhra Pradesh are showering praises on Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for including a chapter on the life of TDP founder and former chief minister N T Rama Rao in the Social Studies book for Class 10 students.

The chapter on NTR also has a reference to the circumstances that led to the legendary actor to launch the TDP and the welfare schemes that were introduced by him like Rs 2 a kg rice scheme and total prohibition.

It has naturally drawn appreciation from the TDP leaders as the TRS, which is strongly opposed to their party, has made a reference to the TDP formation as a milestone in the Telugu politics.

“We are happy that KCR has included a chapter on Anna Garu in the Telangana text books. In fact, the TDP was founded in Telangana and it was NTR who had removed the age-old Patel and Patwari system plaguing the Telangana villages,” TDP senior leader and MLA Gorantla Buchaiah Chowdary said.

By praising KCR, the TDP leaders are indirectly referring to the Jagan government’s systematic removal of NTR names from all the schemes and the attempts to wipe out the TDP from the Telugu land.
