Avinash is not escaping from CBI probe

The high drama over the supposed interrogation of YSR Congress party MP from Kadapa Y S Avinash Reddy by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the murder of his uncle Y S Vivekananda Reddy has been taking twists and turns.

On Friday, Avinash was supposed to appear before the CBI investigating officer in Hyderabad at 11 am, but at the eleventh hour, he gave a slip to the central agency and left for Pulivendula in Kadapa, on the pretext that his mother Sri Lakshmi had fallen sick complaining of chest pain in the morning.

His lawyers gave the information to the CBI and sought some more time to appear before the investigating officer. But the CBI authorities did not oblige the request and started following the vehicle of Avinash to Kadapa.

Fearing that he might be arrested, a large number of the MP’s followers also followed him. Meanwhile, his relatives in Kadapa began shifting his mother to Hyderabad.

At Gooty, Avinash went into the ambulance of his mother and enquired about his health and began his return journey to Hyderabad along with the ambulance. The CBI authorities, who followed Avinash up to Kurnool, also returned to Hyderabad.

While the entire drama has provided the much-needed masala to the pro-Telugu Desam Party television channels, YSRC reacted strongly to the CBI hounding Avinash who was going to Kadapa to call on his ailing mother.

“Avinash has been fully cooperating with the CBI and has no intention of avoiding the questioning in the Viveka murder case. Some media houses are overacting in the entire episode,” senior YSRC leader and advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy said.

Stating that Avinash had been questioned several times by the CBI till now, the advisor said the MP had no objection to be quizzed again.

“He has informed the CBI well in advance about his mother’s health. If not now, he has to attend the CBI probe one day or the other. Why should it be made a big issue? Where is the hurry in questioning him?” he asked.

He found fault with the CBI for hounding a parliament member, while allowing the real killer move scot free.

“If the CBI behaves in extreme manner, Avinash is ready to face it legally,” Sajjala added.
