This was the incident way back to 50s-60s. First the Telugu version of Devadas was made in Telugu with ANR in lead role. The film turned a super hit and ANR was given grand applause by many segments.
Later, the Hindi version of it was made with Dilip Kumar in title role. After the Hindi version was released, Dilip Kumar happened to watch Telugu Devadas. Then Dilip Kumar said, "Had I watched this film before doing Devadas, I wouldn't have done that. Nageshwara Rao has done marvelous and unbeatable job".
That was the acclaim of a national level artiste to a regional hero, ANR. Indeed, there is no exaggeration in Dilip Kumar's saying. What he felt was true.
