Ravi Kondala Rao shared the rules and rubric that censor board used to hold in 40s and 60s. He said an incident, "BN Reddy made the film Devatha in 1941. The heroine becomes pregnant before marriage in that film. There are no taboos for censor board those days. The film released. But in 1962, when BN Reddy thought to remake the film the censor board member GT Sastry discouraged him saying that there is rule in censor to cut the scene that shows any girl getting pregnant before marriage. As the film Devatha runs only on that concept, BN Reddy dropped the idea of remaking that".
The rules in censor board change from time to time and now there are no instances where the censor objected showing a lady as pregnant before marriage.
