Why This Bollywood Star Avoids South Films

Suniel Shetty has revealed why he rarely appears in South Indian films despite being a Mangalorean.

The actor said that although he receives several offers, he chooses not to take them up because Bollywood heroes are usually cast in villain roles in South cinema.

Speaking to The Lallantop, Suniel said, “I do get offers from the South, but there is a trend; you’ll notice that Hindi heroes are mostly offered negative roles. They want to cast us as powerful antagonists because it works well for the screen and the audience. That is something I don’t prefer.”

He added that he worked with Rajinikanth “only to tick the box” of collaborating with the superstar. Suniel also recently appeared in a small role in the film Jai, saying he did it to support the team.

“There is no language barrier today. If there is any barrier, it’s because of the content. If the content is good, it will cross all boundaries,” he said.

Meanwhile, Suniel Shetty will soon be seen hosting Bharat Ke Super Founders on Amazon MX Player.

The high-stakes entrepreneurial reality series will feature India’s most promising startup founders pitching to top business leaders, backed by an investment commitment of ₹100 crore.

As the anchor and mentor, Suniel brings experience, calm leadership and strong belief in India’s entrepreneurial talent. He said the show celebrates “the changemakers shaping tomorrow.”

On the film front, Suniel Shetty is also set to appear in Hera Pheri 3 and Welcome To The Jungle.
