Telugu producers and distributors are once again drawing flak for inflating ticket prices. They boast of “record openings,” but audiences are beginning to see through the tactic.
They are viewing it as blatant exploitation under the guise of star power and “Telugu pride.”
“War 2” is the sequel to the Hindi blockbuster War and it features Hrithik Roshan reprising his role, with Telugu superstar NTR joining the cast this time. This casting created huge buzz for the Telugu version.
Normally, Hindi films skip premiere shows in North America a day before release. But to cater to the Telugu market, YRF agreed to hold special premieres for War 2 in the USA.
The problem? Ticket rates for the Telugu version are significantly higher than for the Hindi version.

Telugu Version: $30 - $35
Hindi Version: $18
While die-hard fans are still booking Telugu premiere tickets, the general audience is holding back - realizing that waiting just one day means watching the film for much less.
