Film producer Dasari Kiran Kumar, known for bankrolling Ram Gopal Varma’s political drama Vyuham, has been arrested.
Hyderabad police detained him on behalf of Vijayawada’s Patamata police and shifted him to Vijayawada.
The arrest came following a complaint filed by his relative Gajula Mahesh, who alleged that Kiran had borrowed ₹4.5 crore from him two years ago but failed to return it despite repeated requests.
Mahesh further stated that on August 18, when he and his wife went to Kiran’s Vijayawada office to demand repayment, they were allegedly attacked by Kiran and about 15 of his associates.
Based on the couple’s complaint, police registered a case and proceeded with the arrest.
Mahesh runs a travel agency, while Kiran rose to prominence after producing Vyuham, which created a sensation at the time of its release.
