Tollywood 2026: First Official Flop Declared

Tollywood 2026: First Official Flop Declared

The year 2006 opened with many new releases on the eve of the Sankranthi season.

While the fate of most of the films is yet to be known, one film’s fate has already been sealed, as its full run has almost come to an end with collections slowing down significantly.

Yes, 'The Raja Saab' is the first officially declared biggest flop of Tollywood in 2026.

The film was released on January 9 and faced several issues during its premieres, the previous night, in the Telangana state, with no smooth proceedings.

The late-night premieres were screened only in a few selected theatres and that too at regular ticket prices, as the GO from the government did not arrive on time.

However, the word of mouth turned out to be bad on the premiere day itself, which badly affected the collections in the following days.

Additionally, strong competition from Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, which was released just two days later, impacted The Raja Saab significantly.

With a massive budget of around Rs 500 crore, The Raja Saab ended up as a big flop, failing to collect even close to half of its budget at the worldwide box office.

Therefore, The Raja Saab is officially declared the first flop of the year 2026.

The film stars Prabhas in the lead role, directed by Maruthi and produced by People Media Factory, marking a major collaboration aimed at delivering a large-scale commercial entertainer for audiences, but failed.
