But like many intimate dramas, Idli Kadai found its real audience on OTT.
After premiering on Netflix on October 29, 2025, the film surged in popularity, staying in the platform’s India Top 10 for two weeks straight — even claiming the No. 1 spot.
Its success didn’t stop with India. The film also hit No. 1 in Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Maldives, and broke into the Top 10 in over 15 countries, including Australia, UAE, Qatar, Singapore, Malaysia, Mauritius, Nigeria, and more.
A theatrical flop turning into a global OTT hit; Idli Kadai is yet another reminder that some stories bloom better on streaming.
