In a dramatic legal twist, the Madras High Court has delivered a severe blow to Tamil actor Vishal.
The court has directed Vishal to pay a hefty sum of Rs 21 crore to Lyca Productions, along with an interest of 30 percent.
The dispute dates back to 2016, when Vishal took a loan of Rs 15 crore from Lyca Productions during the shoot of his film Marudhu. As per their agreement, Vishal was to repay the amount with 30 percent interest.
However, trouble began when Vishal allegedly breached the contract by selling the rights of his later film "Veeramae Vaagai Soodum" to another company, bypassing Lyca.
Feeling wronged, Lyca Productions approached the Madras High Court seeking redressal.
In its ruling, the court made sharp observations against Vishal, calling his actions a clear breach of contract. It then ordered him to pay a total of Rs 21 crore, including interest, to Lyca Productions.
This unexpected legal setback has certainly shocked the star, sending ripples through the Tamil film industry.
