The teaser for the much-anticipated War 2 has finally dropped, but the initial reaction — especially on Reddit — has been far from enthusiastic.
While the teaser showcases Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR clashing across exotic global locations, many viewers felt it lacked originality and excitement.
Netizens were quick to point out the similarities with the first War film, with some calling it a mere role-reversed rehash — only this time with weaker visual effects.
“Looks like the same movie, just with Hrithik chasing instead of being chased — plus worse VFX,” one user commented.
Another called it “a Mountain Dew ad with inflated stakes,” while others simply dismissed it as “rehash with bad CGI.”
Though a few praised the teaser’s scale and production design, they were in the minority.
Many felt the music, action set-pieces, and visuals followed a tired formula that’s been overused in the YRF Spy Universe.
"Vfx is so disappointing and outright bad (sic)," a user wrote, while another commented, "Why it looked fan made!!!?! Why ayan why? Sid anand come back bro (sic)."
"Everything looks green screen. NTR looks completely, completely unconvincing. Hrithik is the only credible thing about the film (sic)," another fan stated.
There was also disappointment over the limited screen time given to Jr NTR and Kiara Advani, the film’s female lead — especially compared to the presence Vaani Kapoor had in the original.
Directed by Ayan Mukerji, War 2 is the sixth installment in the YRF Spy Universe and is set to release in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil on August 14, 2025.
But if early reactions are any indication, the film has some work to do to win over skeptical fans.
