Ranabaali First Look: Vijay D in a Powerful Look

After Taxiwaala, actor Vijay Deverakonda has reunited with director Rahul Sankrityan for a period action drama titled Ranabaali.

Set against the backdrop of British colonial rule, the film stars Rashmika Mandanna as the female lead opposite Vijay. The project has generated strong buzz ever since its announcement.

On the occasion of Republic Day, the makers released a glimpse that depicts how the British looted India and inflicted immense suffering, highlighting a genocide said to be even larger in scale than the Holocaust.

The disturbing visuals, combined with a powerful background score by the Ajay–Atul duo, leave a strong emotional impact.

The glimpse introduces Vijay Deverakonda as Ranabaali, while Rashmika Mandanna plays Jayamma.

Actor Arnold Vosloo, known for The Mummy, appears as Sir Theodore Hector. The final moments, featuring Vijay’s fierce and intense look, have particularly impressed viewers.

The film is being made on a grand scale by producers Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar, under Mythri Movie Makers, and is presented by T-Series.

Set between 1854 and 1878 in a Rayalaseema backdrop, Ranabaali is inspired by real incidents from the 1850s that were never recorded properly in mainstream history.

The makers clarified that the film is not a biopic and not a textbook retelling. Instead, Ranabaali is a cinematic reconstruction of an era, built from multiple real accounts, oral histories, and suppressed records—stories the British strategically misrepresented and characters they wrongly labelled as savages or rebels.

Promising a powerful and unique cinematic experience, the makers expressed confidence that Ranabaali will offer a fresh and never-before-seen narrative from the British era.

The release date has also been announced, with the film set to hit theatres on September 11, 2026.
