Megastar Chiranjeevi’s dream project “Sye Raa” has undoubtedly been one of the biggest hits of the Tollywood and also the highest grossing movies.
It was a major milestone in the megastar's career and has definitely brought immense satisfaction to the senior star.
No one can deny that the film has grossed a huge amount in Telugu states. But is it a profitable film for distributors? The simple answer is no.
What is surprising to note that Ram Charan is claiming the film had collected revenues on par with Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff’s mega-blockbuster ‘War’.
In an interview to a leading English daily, Ram Charan claimed that ‘Sye Raa’ had collected Rs 275 cr in South India itself.
While ‘War’ collected about Rs 300 cr nett in entire India, Ram Charan reportedly said that Sye Raa garnered a net collection of Rs 275 cr in South Indian states alone. Surely, Ram Charan must be dreaming!!
Despite being one of the highest-grossing movies of all-time in Tollywood, ‘Sye Raa’ didn’t bring profits to the buyers due to the exorbitant prices.
The only two areas that saw profits are Nizam and Uttarandhra. In all other areas in Andhra Pradesh, the buyers are losing anywhere in the range of 20 to 30%.
In Karnataka, the movie is a huge disaster. The Karnataka buyer will be losing nearly 50% on investment.
The Tamil version and Malayalam versions are non-starters from the day one. Then where did in South India this Rs 275 cr net revenue come from?
In fact, Ram Charan himself admitted that the Hindi version was a disappointment.
‘Sye Raa’ was appreciated for its content as it narrated the story of unsung freedom warrior of Telugu land with lavish production values. Chiranjeevi’s exceptional performance received appreciation from all quarters.
Megastar should be content that his dream project was well-received by all sections of the audiences. Ram Charan should also feel happy that he made his father’s dream reality. It was a great tribute to his father.
Take credit for this. But boasting abou false collections only attracts trolling.
