Indian cinema is about to witness history as two of its biggest legends Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth are set to share the screen after a gap of 46 years.
The announcement came straight from Kamal Haasan himself at the NEXA SIIMA Awards 2025 in Dubai on September 6, sending fans into a frenzy.
While the film’s details remain tightly guarded, buzz in the industry suggests that blockbuster director Lokesh Kanagaraj, who delivered Vikram and Coolie, may direct this dream project.
Addressing the audience, Kamal Haasan recalled their early collaborations with a witty metaphor: “We came together long ago but stayed apart because directors kept splitting a biscuit and giving us only half each. We wanted a full biscuit then — and we relished it. Now we’re happy with just half a biscuit again, so we’ve come together.”
The duo, who began their journeys under the guidance of the legendary K Balachander, last acted together in 1979’s Alavuddinum Athbutha Vilakkum. Before that, they lit up screens in cult classics like Apoorva Raagangal, Moondru Mudichu, and 16 Vayathinile.
