It is true that Prabhas’s film “The Raja Saab” was not granted Government Order by the Telangana government in time for screening paid premiere shows.
As a result, the film reportedly suffered huge losses, with discrepancies during premiere shows, mainly because screenings were conducted at regular ticket prices, that too at few theatres, in last minute.
However, within just two days, the GO for the film “Mana Shankara Vara Prasad” was issued, permitting screenings at hiked ticket prices, including premiere shows.
This raises an important question of Why was Prabhas’s film troubled, while permission was easily granted for Chiranjeevi’s film?
While probing this issue, several theories, some possibly true and others mere conspiracies, are being discussed. Here, we present what we have heard.
- The first theory suggests that a key official responsible for issuing the GO was upset that Prabhas did not approach him directly. Prabhas is known to stay away from political dealings, but the official allegedly expected a direct call from him. Due to this, the GO was reportedly delayed.
- The second theory circulating in industry circles is that Dil Raju may be behind this move. Sources say that his business rival is the distributor of this film in the Nizam area. To sabotage the distributor, he allegedly used his close connections with power centers in the government.
- The third theory claims that, for unknown reasons, Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy kept delaying the GO, repeatedly asking for five more minutes. When it was already past 10 PM, he reportedly pushed the issue onto the police, stating that they had raised objections due to crowd control concerns, which emerged at the last minute.
Whatever may be true or untrue among these theories, the bottom line remains clear. Prabhas’s film was denied permission.
Then why Chiranjeevi's film was granted the Government Order?
Is this not treating two stars and their fans differently?
When further probed, another theory emerged that “Mana Shankara Vara Prasad” producer Sahu Garapati shares a family friendship with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, which may have helped in securing the GO on time.
Whatever the case may be, showing discrimination in the exercise of power could prove costly during elections, as resentment continues to grow beneath the surface over time.
