Overseas Buyers Demand Money Back

Overseas Buyers Demand Money Back

The overseas market bounced back in a big way in January this year after a prolonged lull period.

When Tollywood producers were celebrating this, the tsunami of corona caused huge devastation both in domestic and overseas markets. Nobody is sure when will be the normalcy is restored at the movie theaters.

What is certain is that the overseas business will not recover for another year. Given this scenario, the distributors who gave the advance amount to various Telugu films under production are now demanding their money back.

Producer Danayya is under pressure from the overseas distributor of “RRR”. The film closed its overseas deal a year ago.

A Dubai based company had snapped up the rights for a whopping Rs 62 crore for all languages put together. The distributor is not demanding money back but is said to be asking for a huge cut in the already agreed price.

Tamil superstar Vijay’s Tamil-Telugu “Master” has been pushed to Deepavali. The distributor is also said to be demanding his money back.

Similarly, films such as Pawan Kalyan’s “Vakeel Saab”, Nani and Sudheer Babu’s “V”, Ram’s “Red”, and Mythri’s “Uppena” will be sitting at the renegotiation table.
